The past few works days had been bustling in a way that Layla wasn't excited about. First dropping the glass in front of Lux after getting man-handled. And then there was the guy that reminded her so much of her brother, although she wasn't sure they really were all that similar. Today she was just hoping to be in and out quickly with no outside problems. So far, so good. Lux was off today and Layla wondered where the older girl had gone off to. With Luxanna being one of her only sort of friends, Layla found herself kind of watching out for the other girl. Even if she was older, there was something fragile about her that made Layla want to take care of her the way she took care of Cora.
The bar was starting to calm down a bit, everybody had a drink and she was just focusing on clearing up a few empty shot glasses and beer bottles to leave some room around the empty stools. Nothing extraordinary had happened, mostly regulars wandering in after work. She could handle that, especially with so many of them still being halfway sober. None of them were grabby and she felt serene in her element, mixing drinks and conversing.
When she noted a familiar face just a few seats down from where she had struck up conversation with a girl about how she got into the mixing business, Layla excused herself with a smile and shuffled down a bit with a drink in hand. His drink, the usual. She waved it in front of his nose and offered him a smile, "What's up Jacky boy? You look a little glum today, where's that purdy assistant of yours?" She winked and gave him a nudge. "Oh and this one is on me, though if you order too many more, I won't be able to afford it and you won't be getting anymore free-bees. Got it?"
