Round and around in circles, constantly moving through the city, Nyx couldn't settle herself down. It wasn't because she was restless or scared, but she just loved looking for things she hadn't seen before. There was always something new to explore even in the parts of the city that she'd dug through many times over the past three years. Sometimes she'd go back to where her family's group had last been together. There were times when she missed it, missed them, missed her parents, but she never been one to dwell on her past or her losses.
Unless she thought of her twin brother. Oliver was the only one who she ever found herself dwelling over. Every single day she missed him, his smile and the way he was always goofing around. He made her smile while everything around them was going horribly wrong. He was a beacon of light and yet she knew there was a darkness in him that she constantly found herself going back to. She couldn't imagine how he was taking this life without her because she knew she was barely making it herself. It was like they kept going around in circles looking for each other, neither settling in one place. Nyx just hoped that it was that and not something worse. If he was gone because she wasn't with him...she'd never be able to forgive herself for letting go of his hand.
Nyx sat in a shell of an old car, her legs curled up underneath her while she let her mind drift. To Oliver, to her parents, to this world. She just sat there staring out of the car window and hummed a tune to herself. Nyx was always humming something, never quite knowing what. Her great grandmother's quilt was wrapped around her legs and she leaned her head back.
As she stared out, she saw something move from the other side of the lot and she slunk down in the seat to stay out of sight. Someone was walking this way. Alone.
